Frustrated, the tall man scratches his head and drops the cord.
Something so simple can have him ready to fall on his sword,
But the kids are watching, laughing at daddy, safely behind the door.
He knows this is for them, so his patience for the moment is restored.
Looking over his manual, he sees something that he may have ignored.
A shift here, a pull there, and a couple of arrangements give a reward.
Valiantly he drops the cord once again, and watches light fill the air.
Brilliant colors from red, to blue, to green, flicker and shine as he stares.
The door flies open and three cheering kids run out, one’s feet are bear.
Mom is worried, but she lets it slide for the sake of a moment her family shares.
Two minutes before Christmas, dad finally fixed the lights on a final prayer.
Sleigh bells ring and all eyes move upward, the moment they cherish, Santa was there.
