Sharp piney needles proudly expand their reach outward,
Until they have taken enough space to allow for comfort.
Their sturdiness holds an array of eye candy for the family.
Christmas lights wrap around them up and down the base.
The most noticeable of the group, the lights shine so brightly.
Spherical ornaments from red to green to blue hang down.
Multi-colored lights flicker and mingle off the round aluminum.
Candy canes and popcorn strings fill in open spaces everywhere.
Sentimental value arises as the home-made adornments are placed.
The children’s creativity gets displayed and fills them with pride.
Silver thistle is draped over the top of it all, shimmering in the lights.
The sight is a beauty, and almost entirely completed for my eyes,
But the only thing missing, is my vision of you.
