| Watching a Winter Wonderland
At the break of dawn, the sun’s gentle rays caress the powdery fresh snow.
The fire within flickers and cracks as it winds down, starting to lose its glow.
A humble isolated log cabin rests atop a hill with a wondrous view of all below.
An aged, gray haired lady awakens in peace, getting ready to move to and fro.
She slowly slips out of the bed and puts on a soft red robe in response to the cold.
Into the kitchen she goes, starting a nice cup of coffee to be made rich and bold,
A tradition every winter morning that to her could never really begin to feel old.
As she drank, she stared at the walls, smiling at the thought of the stories they told.
A bit of a noise startled her as the animals outside the cabin began to make a fuss.
In such an uneventful and quiet place, seeing what happened was more than a must.
A white scene filled her vision, along with a cloud of snow that looked like white dust.
She patiently waited to see what happened, and finally what emerged was… us.
